This page explains how to delete your AlarmBuddy account and what happens to your data. AlarmBuddy is published by STRANG SOFTWARE (Norwegian org. nr. 936651178).
Option 1: Delete from inside the app (recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is from inside the AlarmBuddy app:
- Open AlarmBuddy on your device.
- Go to Settings → Profile.
- Tap “Delete Account”.
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog.
Your account and associated cloud data are deleted immediately. You may be asked to sign in again first — this is a security requirement from Google for sensitive operations.
Option 2: Request deletion by email
If you can no longer access the app or prefer to request deletion by email, send a message to:
Include the following:
- Subject line: “Delete my AlarmBuddy account”
- The email address associated with your Google account used to sign in to AlarmBuddy
We will verify the request by replying to the email address on file and process the deletion within 30 days. You will receive a confirmation once the deletion is complete.
What data is deleted
When you delete your AlarmBuddy account, the following is permanently removed from our systems:
- Your Firebase authentication record (email, display name, profile photo URL, Google account user ID)
- Your user profile document in our database (account creation date, VIP status flag, preferences synced from the app)
- All alarm data synced to the cloud from your account
- Your active Google Sign-In session for AlarmBuddy
Local data on your device (alarms stored on-device, theme preferences, sound favorites) is NOT touched by account deletion — those live on your phone, not our servers. To remove them, uninstall the app or use Settings → Storage → Clear Data in Android settings.
What data is retained (and why)
A small amount of data is retained after account deletion. This is either required by law or held by third-party services we use:
- Subscription and purchase records — retained by Google Play and RevenueCat (our subscription processor) for up to 7 years to comply with Norwegian and EU accounting and tax law (bokføringsloven § 13). This data is anonymised from our perspective once your account is deleted but the underlying transaction records remain with the payment processors.
- Crash and error reports — Sentry retains anonymised crash reports for up to 90 days. These reports do not contain personally identifying information; they are tied to a one-way-hashed user ID that becomes unresolvable once your account is deleted.
- Advertising identifiers — if you watched rewarded ads, Google AdMob may retain advertising-ID-linked event data per their own retention policy. AlarmBuddy does not control this data. You can reset your Android advertising ID at any time via Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Analytics events — Firebase Analytics retains aggregated, non-personalised event data per Google’s standard retention settings.
How long does deletion take?
- In-app deletion (Option 1): Immediate. The account is deleted before the confirmation dialog closes.
- Email request (Option 2): Within 30 days of receiving and verifying your request.
